2024 - Current: Head of Cloud, Quality, and Reliability Engineering, ANZx

  • Consolidated multiple enablement functions and 300 staff into a single Technology Area covering DevOps, Cloud and Platform, Quality, and Compliance Engineering.
  • Oversaw the migration of the ANZx technology domain to enterprise risk tooling, bringing it into line with Group wide reporting.
  • Established the Internal Developer Platform function to centralise build and governance of IdP, standardising GCP build and deployment patterns.

2021 - 2024: Head of Site Reliability Engineering, ANZx

  • Built the Site Reliability Engineering practice at ANZx as ANZ Plus scaled from 0 customers through to 1.2 million.
  • Defined domain wide standards and acceptance criteria for critical operational controls, including service management, monitoring and observability, and business continuity.
  • Introduced and scaled the usage of modern observability and operations tooling into ANZ, including a migration from Dynatrace to Honeycomb, along with Nobl9 for standardised Service Level Objective reporting.
  • Aligned SRE teams against business Value Streams, ensuring smoother interactions between technology and business operations. Established SLOs across more than 300 customer facing user journeys and 100+ technology assets.
  • Met or exceeded month-on-month SLO / availability reporting KPIs year on year.

2019 - 2021: Director of Engineering, Whispir

  • Managed the expansion of Development and Technical Operations teams into the Philippines helping to augment local engineering capability at a significantly lower cost base.
  • Facilitated Business Continuity measures across the entire organization, ensuring the seamless transition to remote work across all offices.
  • Held delegation of authority from the CEO over the organisations Information Security Management System as a part of its ISO27001:2013 certification. Further improved the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal security and compliance program, introducing Privacy by Design and Provable Security initiatives into the Software Development and Technical Operations lifecycles.
  • Implemented new Technical Supplier Management function within Technology focusing on building strong relationships with core telecommunication providers. This included onboarding new vendors in core market spaces at substantially reduced rates, improving profit margins and providing greater flexibility for Sales.
  • Led increased engagement with Amazon Web Services as a strategic partner, including securing the first Digital Workplace Competency for an Australian based organization, granting access to joint funding and advertising opportunities, and being a launch partner for the Amazon EventBridge product.

2017 - 2019: Technical Operations Manager, Whispir

  • Responsible for managing a range of Technical business functions, including Internal IT, DevOps Engineering, and Security and Compliance during the organizations successful IPO.
  • Led cost reduction programs to identify and treat financial optimizations, resulting in major reductions to monthly and annual supplier costs across cloud vendors and other software suppliers.
  • Redesigned the Information Security Management System, reducing unnecessary complexity and improving compliance, resulting in ISO27001:2013 recertification for the head office, and an expanded scope of applicability to regional offices.
  • Led the adoption of cloud native engineering practices, including production implementations of Kubernetes and Serverless based applications resulting in greater scalability, elasticity, and cost effectiveness.
  • Led multiple datacentre migrations, including on-premise to on-premise and on-premise to cloud, resulting in major cost reductions, increased reliability and uptime.

2013 - 2017: Senior Technical Consultant, Frontier Software

  • Introduced tooling to deliver portable testing and development environments to Web Development and QA departments resulting in greater efficiency, and reduced variance in testing conditions.
  • Extended operations into AWS in response to internal IT and resourcing limitations, aiding in the development, testing, and release of new products and software features, as well as enhanced business continuity processes.
  • Implemented modern observability tooling in the Frontier Software Application Service Provider environment, resulting in significantly shorter mean time to identification and restoration times.
